Vocaloid NND Weekly Ranking
Weekly Vocaloid Ranking “Unselected”

*trudges in weakly* Hi. I’m red2, filling in for Pengy. If I come off as exhausted, it’s because I am. I’ll explain after the break.

Well, first off I suppose on behalf of Pengy and myself I should apologize. Pengy linked me the wrong Vocaran last night, and I spent the better part of three hours of putting it into our blog-based format, not noticing that it was actually the wrong one. Oops. It’s all fixed so you can enjoy it to your heart’s content. For me, I’m just going to put my headphones on, close my eyes, and not think for a while.

Naho’s Opening Statement:

<rebecca/kurisuto’s translation will be coming up. So stay tuned!>

Notes:

-Editors: Pengy, DTKel, descent87, bunnychan, redemption2
-Translator: Coming up soon
-Song Status: Up (↑), Down (↓), Unmoved (→), Unranked (–), New (!!)

Editor Picks of the week:

Final Thoughts/Analysis:

I hope we get our normal weekly Vocaran back soon. I miss the format. But I think they SHOULD add a history tracker for the song.

…And so with that, we end this week’s Vocaloid Ranking review. Please join us again next week, and <insert non sequitur rant here>.

  1. So now UTAU has a ranking specific to its usage… and Vocaloid doesn't. Dx
Call me biased and a hater (because I kind of am) but why can't they stay separate rankings? (Not that I'm discrediting the probably thousands of greatly talented UTAU producers – personally, I just dislike the voices.)

    1. Even though I realize this message was a result of errors on behalf of tired blog members (it's okay, we forgive you, it's nearing the end of the school year after all!), I have to point out that VOCALOIDS SHOW UP IN THE UTAU RANKING TOO. So, UTAU shows up in WVR… Vocaloid shows up in WUR… as long as the respective voice synthesizer is the MAIN (-ish) vocals, it counts. Hence why kaoling's awesome song with Rana and Miku was in both rankings: it was pretty much half-n-half on vocals throughout the entire thing.

Also, with the hundreds of great, high-quality, and -VARIED- UTAU voices out there, can you really say you dislike -all- of them? Such a sweeping generalization…

      1. For obvious reasons (as above), I've never listened to the UTAU ranking, so I apologise for assuming it consisted only of UTAUs as, unfortunately, its title implies. Whether it was just that I didn't watch the Vocaran one particular week or another, or I just haven't followed it for long enough, I haven't seen UTAU in the Vocaran either.
And as for "sweeping generalisation"… how many UTAUs are there, exactly? Is it 30 or more like 300? If it's the latter, then I certainly didn't mean to generalise. The ones I know of (however many or few that may be) I dislike profusely. Much contributing to my regular avoidance of the UTAU ranking (ignorance, laziness, or whatever you like). It's cyclic. If there are better ones in existence, I could bear to approach it. 😛
Not sure whether this lack of UTAU knowledge is something amazing in the context of the Vocaloid fandom, but I'm really past caring.

        1. It's kind of amazing considering the wealth of UTAU information that's readily available on this site alone, let alone other Vocaloid outlets (mostly to prevent misconceptions like this). Heck, at the very least, check out the UTAU songs you see pop up on the ranking watcher. Not exactly an overwhelming number, and that way you're getting exposed to UTAU works that at least have some bit of credibility (a good ratio of views to mylists).

As for the number of UTAUs… try over a thousand. (Though if we're only counting ones of note, it's in the few hundreds, but that's still a big number.)

UTAU songs on the Vocaloid Ranking? "Nichijousahanji" featuring Miku and Sekka Yufu was in the ranking a while ago, as was a more recent song, "rainbow days" featuring Rin and Kasane Teto (that one stayed for two straight weeks), and there's the aforementioned kaoling song with Miku and new UTAU Sorane Rana, called (give me a minute)… "Mienai Kuro ni Ochite Yuke", if my kanji reading is right. It was just a few weeks ago, though. How new are you to the Vocaloid Ranking? Or is watching it more of a "once in a random while" kind of thing?

  2. May I point out that you are actually looking at the WRONG ranking.
The ranking that you referenced from is the monthly ranking that uses WVR data from the past month (which is throughout April).
Hence this explains the addition of pickup, the ranking tracker, the 'glitches', you get what I mean.

    Here's the correct one: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm14345093

    1. Our apologies, the ranking video was linked incorrectly. Thanks for pointing that out.

The article has since been fixed.

      1. Yeah everyone can blame me for #1 not being able to do it this week (actually blame AP tests for that) and #2 linking the wrong video to red…

  3. Lot of nostalgia in the end of the ranking this week, and Miku is back to her typical 50% of the ranking but seriously, grabbing the two first spots with the same song ! I understand that the Producer probably did a correction and reposted at the beginning of the week but can't the VocaRan editor correct this and arbitrarily remove one of the two songs of the ranking ?

  4. Yet another error I want to point out: Change the title name for #1.
The link is correct though… but it's bothering me. 😛

    1. Sorry about that, it was an honest mistake when I was busy editing through the article with the correct links.

  5. Ha got an explanation for my confusion in the ranking, There's a Copy'nPaste that went wrong Redemption:
#1 should be 【GUMI(40㍍)】 夢地図 【オリジナル】 and not 【初音ミク】一方通行【オリジナル曲】 ! That will serve me to view the Vocaran on Youtube instead of NND.
So dismiss my rant about the same song on the top positions.

Now back to the music: I never liked Panda Hero, but the remix with the Kagamine (#26) is more to my liking. And lastly, since Jinsei Geemu (#30) is back in the game, you should check the new PV, probably not less creepy than the original picture.

  6. Well for the WVR videos currently there will be an "(週刊#18-互換)" (replacement for WVR#18-) at the end of the title so look out for it to avoid confusion. When in doubt just ask any of us around and we will help confirm.

    1. The opening song is always the #1 song of the week before, so in this case it is 【GUMI】 マーメイド 【オリジナルPV】 (Mermaid)
