New GUMI Extend Demo: Tanabata Sama

GUMI by ナチ子

A new Megpoid Etend demo has surfaced; like the previous one, it features GUMI normal, Power, Whisper, Sweet and Adult. “Almost no tuning” was applied. Watch the video after the break!

The song used, “Tanabata sama”, is a Japanese nursery rhyme. Its name comes from a Chinese legend narrating the love story between Hikoboshi (Altair) and Orihime (Vega), two stars who are separated by the Milky Way and who can meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh month. Tanabata (the “Star Festival”) is celebrated on July 7th, and it is customary to write one’s wishes — often in the form of poems — on papers and hang them on bamboos. These papers are called tanzaku, and the lyrics of “Tanabata sama” mention “tanzaku of five colours” (crimson, green, yellow, white and black). No word from Internet Co. as to what voices correspond to what colours… This demo song will be used as the BGM for a slideshow video presenting the wishes submitted by users.

  1. It seems like the voices that didn't work were a result of the pitches. Especially noticeable with adult, which is really breathy and sounds terrible on the high pitches, but sounds great on the lower notes.
