Sigh… Any of you guys remember the good ol’ days of WVR…? Back when we had 5 supercell songs constantly on the charts and popular songs had streaks within the Top-3? I can’t believe I actually miss those times, and yet here I am. Nowadays I’m not so sure what songs I should be rooting for since most of them drop as fast as they rise. But hey, it’s still the beginning of the 2nd quarter of 2010, so maybe we have yet to have this year’s JBF or magnet.

(on a side note, I’m still a little bit paranoid as to when SP5 will start. Can anyone tell me the exact date?)

Naho’s Opening Statement:

Good afternoon everyone! It’s time for this week’s vocaran!
As GW (golden week) is comming, everything gets excited and acceletated!
This week, the top30s are especially hot! Really huge and close competition!
This week’s ranking yields the biggest proportion of new singles ever♪
Anyways!
Let’s get started and check it out from 30th!

In Other Vocaloid News:

Sweet, matured, vivacious, graceful, cheerful, tense, and no panty! etc., with various expressions, Hatsune Miku Append will be released on 30th April!

I expect next week’s vocaran also be a very fierce battle again!
There will be a lot of songs using Append, too (but with panty!).

Thank you for watching till the end.
See you next week.

Final Thoughts/Analysis:

Minna-san ohayo/konnichiwa/konbanwa, all depending on when you’re reading this. As I predicted, we had a MAJOR shakeup in the countdown when it came to distribution, so let’s get to it! Right out of the gate, JBF took a tumble to 24th, its lowest showing on the countdown under the new system, even though it gained 1000 points. If it maintains this amount and still falls, it could mean that we’ll see the first time JBF gets knocked from the countdown soon, and that the Vocaran is becoming more popular again. Rolling Girl rolled off to 33rd as well. Along with the shakeup, there were a few executions, when a ranked song from the week before gets shot down past 100. I saw three instances of that.

There were a lot of regular Ps this week that didn’t get the scores they usually get, 164 and milltones just being two examples. Plus with the resurgence of Kagamine songs lately, we’ve got a lot to consider with potential to increase their scores in the next week. I chose milltones because what he produces is usually very catchy and appeals to a lot of audiences. His track record shows a strong second week score. I don’t think the top three this week will stick around for very long though, so let’s hope there are some more keepers in the mix next week.

And so with that, we end this wee… oh wait, I’m reading Holo’s cue card. //// Ahem, back to you Holo.

…And so with that, we end this week’s Vocaloid Ranking review. Please join us again next week, and wish me luck on finally getting employed!

  1. Sorry about my absence for the past two weeks. I got caught up in other things (read: procrastination).

I think it might be the gradual strengthening against cheating that's preventing regulars from forming and surviving as easily as they used to. I don't really mind in most cases, but it gets annoying when really good songs don't get the exposure they should.

30: I like this one. It's not super amazing, but its run and revival were deserved.
29: Cute and interesting, but not necessarily good.
28: Some bits are okay, but it could certainly be improved upon.
    27: Probably leaving next week.
26: Miku's lacking something, but otherwise it's good.
25: Too muffled and slow. Not my cup of tea.
24: Well, looks like it's been long enough…
23: Nice video, but the song doesn't live up to it.
22: Another one that could probably be improved on. The video's okay, though.
21: I'm not into these weird and eccentric songs.
20: Rin needs to show some more emotion here. She just sounds flat.
    19: Ear-bleeding high-pitchedness =/= emotion.
18: Pretty good, I don't have much to say about it other than that.
17: I don't get why people like this one so much. It's not all too great.
16: Luka probably wasn't the best choice here. Besides that, it's nice.
15: I prefer the original over this.
    14: Another generally-good-but-not-amazing song.
    13: Lacking something, once again.
12: Gumi just doesn't sound right for this one.
11: Odd. I can't really judge its quality, but it's not something I'd listen to.
Pickup: Oh hey, Gakupo. He sounds all right in this one, his voice doesn't sound odd like in most other songs with him that I've heard.
    10: Once again, good.
9: It's just fast-paced rock, which I am all for, but it just doesn't have enough substance to stand out from the crowd.
8: It took me a second to figure out who was singing. Fairly cutesy, but eh.
7: Luka isn't the best choice for this kind of song.
6: I am in love with this song right now. Seriously.
5: It's average. Not bad, but not good either.
4: Another great Gumi song. She needs to be used more often.
H5: Odd. It sounds a lot like the recent flood of Rin songs.
H4: Just strange. I personally don't care for it.
H3: It's pretty, but missing something. That seems to be the case for many songs…
H2: Why can't we get more comedy songs like this nowadays?
    H1: …I can't escape it, can I?
3: Very Pane Dhiria-ish. Unfortunately, it's not as memorable.
2: Rin isn't blending well with the background, and no effort was made to hide glitching. It's just yet another Rin song.
1: I don't particularly favor this one, mainly because it sounds like it has no idea what kind of song it wants to be.

Aside from the Rin-flood returning, an average week. Can we have some more good songs? Please?

    1. I didn’t hear any glitching in rank 2.
      Live-P’s tuning is great.
Unless you think her rolling her R’s is glitching…

Of course… my ear is untrained to such musical details, so you can feel free to explain.
      I’m honestly curious.
But maybe I shouldn’t be… I like the song, and if you point out something I might end up distracted by it. >_>

  2. For some reason…watching #1 was…reminding me of Saihate? O_o

It seems very Saihate-like, except instead of Zebras, we have Giraffes. >_> Rin's Saihate, I suppose?
Well, doesn't matter, it sounds good, and that's all that matters.
