Vocaloid NND Weekly Ranking
Weekly Vocaloid Ranking #141 “Unselected”

Oh my lord! Make that infernal buzzing stop and lemme enjoy my World Cup in peace!!! Yes, I need full unadulterated coverage of revolting Frenchmen

Welp, it finally happened: I was so busy that I actually missed watching last week’s VocaRan. I don’t even know what’s the deal with the whole Hayabusa-thing. Well, I do know about the new Vipperloid coming out, but that’s not even Vocaloid-related. I am seriously considering passing on the torch to somebody more capable of keeping of with the rankings, but that’s for another time.

Naho’s Opening Statement:

The time has come for this week’s VocaRan. With soccer and other events going on, everyone, when do you find time to sleep?

The summer solstice, or the longest day of the year, is a feature of June. Although this enables you to stay up later, make sure you still get sleep. However, falling asleep with the A/C on can hurt your throat…

Well then, let’s watch the results of the songs you care about unfold. This week as well, from number 30, it’s time to start.

  • THIS WEEK IN HISTORY: (WVR #89)
This spot is for a look back at the VocaRan one year before. Here are the top five songs from that week.

    • H5: Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
    • H4: Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
    • H3: Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
    • H2: Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
    • H1: Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  • #3: 【巡音ルカオ リジナルPV】ダンサーインザダーク【fatman×ハツ子】 (!!)
First off, Engrish! D: Secondly, this is such a weird video.  I guess should give it a hand. Again, not really engrish (except for that “teared”-thing), just not lyric-worthy. It sounds awkward set in song. ‘Engrish’ aside, the song itself is cool for the first part, but then it kinda just repeats… when there’s no variation, it loses its edge. Or maybe it’s just me.
  • #2: 初音ミク・巡 音ルカ オリジナル曲 「ワールズエンド・ダンスホール」 (→)
Well this is an unlikely three-bagger.  For funsies, Yokkora Sex was #2 for three-straight weeks in October 2008. I see whut u did thar… I don’t see anything unlikely about it. This is the latest ‘thing’, so of course people are going to latch on tight.
  • #1: 【初音ミク】 はやぶさ 【オリジナル曲】 (↑8)
It’s topical! ^w^ Whoever says they don’t like this is crazy. It’s Dragonforce, I tell you! It couldn’t possibly be any more epic-sounding!

In Other Vocaloid News:

Miku-san has finally arrived?! The arcade game “Hastune Miku Project DIVA Arcade” from June 23rd on will start appearing in game centers and other places all over the country!

It seems the amount of machines is still small, though, as according to the uploader, “There doesn’t seem to be any machines coming anywhere within 50 kilometers of me, though I’m checking this weekend to be sure.” That’s too bad…

Well then, here’s the rest of this week’s ranking, from 31 onward.

Final Thoughts/Analysis:

There seemed to be a large amount of Luka and Rin this week (not that there’s anything wrong with that), and “World’s End Dancehall is quickly becoming “Meltdown”-like in its high and sustained level of popularity.  Alas, once I find an instrumental, I’m probably going to be done with it (unless ore-dan gets back together to do an a cappella version of it).

…And so with that, we end this week’s Vocaloid Ranking review. Please join us again next week, and I’m off to rest my aching shoulders. Geez, you’d think a desk job would be easy work… I have some wonderful music that could make you forget about the pain in your shoulders :3 If you’re really unhappy with your work, we could always switch jobs. I’d be MORE than happy to. 😀

    1. Vipperloids usually become or start out as UTAU based vocaloids, in the tradition of Teto and Ritsu and such.

  1. Loving the Starduster reappearance these weeks- one of my favorites heh.

    As for the top 3-
3.) Was expecting this to land pretty high – it has that one week hit charm to it. Though fatmanP works don’t really pop out on top. (IMO, I liked the last 2-3 songs he released before this one better, though it might be just the engrish)
2.) World’s End Dancehall. It should speak for itself.
1.) *shrug* Sure sounds nice, but I can’t get hooked.

  2. I've been wondering this for a while. . .why do people hate wowaka? Did he do something or is it just because of his songs? I personally like some of them.

The top 3 was nice, thought the first one didn't really hit me. I really liked the 3rd thought.

    1. a) Preference
      b) “It’s popular, so it sucks!”
      c) “It sounds the same, so it sucks!”
      d) “I’m edgy, so it sucks!”

      Pick your poison.

      1. Oh, and most of them are NOT a.
Personally, I prefer wowaka's songs that make use of more traditional instruments (Rolling Girl had a visible use of guitar and piano, and World's End Dancehall uses guitar) rather than that extra techno-ish stuff. Makes me feel a little more comfortable.

      2. For me, it's all preference. If the song sounds good, it doesn't matter who made it or whatever. I only "hated" wowaka because I had to hear that damn 裏表ラバーズ everywhere I went. When Rolling Girl came out I was the first to say I loved it. And I do like WEDH. It's just not the pinnacle of Vocaloid songs everyone seems to think it is, for whatever reason. 9_9;

    1. Holy shit. I remember posts were made when classics like kokoro and aku no musume hit 1 million. I guess the vocaloid community is mighty sensational

  3. "Falling asleep with the A/C on can hurt your throat"? Lol, that's a new one, for me at least.
    Also, yaaaay, Starduster rose!
