2010 Vocaloidism Awards – Finale

Song of the Year poll on Jan 20, 6:21 PM EDT

After 12 months of music and 5 weeks of polls, we’ve reached the thrilling conclusion of the 2010 Vocaloidism Awards.  Not much else to say, since 2011 has already gone off to an awesome start (and we’ll actually get to that later), so let’s cut to the chase.

Well, not before one thing: our final total, 5,208 votes.  Thank you for every single one.  Now, on to the winners.

Sanrio once again proves that they own our souls.  Even though it wasn’t as bad as Yuki or Sonika, I’m disappointed with Tonio’s result.  Anyone who compares favorably with Dean Martin is automatically awesome.

The 37-point win is the largest margin of victory in the short history of the Vocaloidism Awards.  The 182-vote difference is 2nd-largest.  Either way, it’s a 4th award in a very productive year for DECO*27

And finally…

Matryoshka, Rolling Girl, and Mozaik Role were all very close (as demonstrated by the picture at the top of the article).  However, in the 2nd week, Matryoshka pulled away giving Hachi a bit of an upset victory.  The win makes it two awards for 2010 and three overall.

Now that all the awards are gone, and all the praise given out, we’ve come to the end of our 2nd annual Vocaloidism Awards.  I once again thank the hundreds, if not thousands, that voted over the past 5 weeks.  Without you, there are no awards.  I’d also like to congratulate all of this year’s winners and our nominees.  You have all done exemplary work over the past year, and these awards are a show of our appreciation.  Of course, I must acknowledge our blog staff for creating some of the best lists of nominees I have seen.  As I said before, all those “this was a tough choice” comments make me happy, because it means we picked out the best of the best.

And finally, we look to the future of Vocaloid fandom and this blog.  2011 is already shaping up to be an amazing year.  January gave us over 113,000 hits, more than triple the hits from the first month of 2010.  That means we are still growing by leaps and bounds, all thanks to you, and we’re trying to constantly trying to grow and improve with you and for you.  We’re now active on twitter and Facebook, and we see a lot of talk about us. Some of it’s good, and some of it’s bad, but that’s to be expected.  Believe it or not, we want all of that feedback.  If there are any suggestions you may have, or articles you want to pitch, or music or art you want to share, don’t hesitate to contact us.  Most of us are active on Vocaforum, and we’d be happy to talk to you.  The best way to get what you want and to help make the blog better is for you to tell us directly, so don’t be shy.  Help us make Vocaloidism not only the center of the English Vocaloid Community in 2011, but the center of the International Vocaloid World.  We can do it; I know we can.

Thank you once again for another successful awards season.  We’ll see you again soon.

  1. DECO*27 really has quite the full sweep this year… not that I disagree with him winning! 😀

Glad that Iroha won, but I preferred VY1, so it's sort of a pity.

  2. Poor Tonio, beaten by Gatchapoid that's hard :D. But I'm sure that once Miku will have her english voicebank, the engloids will get the attention they deserve.

Also a bit disapointed that VY1 didn't get the first place but not too much: Iroha was my second choice (if only the community could find her a more appropriate character).

  3. Congrats to Deco*27. I really can't say enough about him. That dude single-handedly made my life so much better this year. Absolutely amazing stuff and I just love the way he thinks and song writes.

Congrats to the whole Vocaloidism community as well, great show of participation.

  4. meh Deco*27, Hachi and wowaka ARE SOOO OVERRATED.
I hope that would change next year…Congrats to Iroha though <3

  5. Is anyone else excited that Matryoshka won? ^o^

Although, I was kinda dissapointed that VY1 didn't win Best New Vocaloid, though. But I'm prefectly happy with Nekomura.^^
    Congrats to Deco*27 too~!!

  6. maybe because VY1 dont have really a character to represent his/her voice..anyways Iroha congrats..
    Deco*27..no surprise there…still very happy for him/her (i rly dont know sorry…<^_^; )
I would love rolling girl to win but hey Matroyshka is not bad, not bad at all..d(>w<)b

  7. DECO*27 definetly deserved that landslide victory. sad that rolling girl didn't win like i hoped it would, but 2nd place isn't bad. can't wait for the next polls to come up.

  8. OMG DECO*27 won in a landslide. WOOT!
I don't have a problem with Iroha winning, VY-1 is second thought (voted for it)
I can't agree with Matryoshka, it's a good song and I almost voted for it, but it was a pretty close call, Rolling Girl and Mozaik Role did well.
Really wished one of those won, Rolling Girl will be like the most know vocaloid song one day, it's basically already a legendary song!
