We have a very orange week this time; lots and lots of new songs and a couple of good pick ups. There’s also a commercial for Miko, reader’s picks, etc etc. Sorry guys, can’t come up with witty this week. 😛

Sorry for the wait! It’s time for the Weekly UTAU Ranking!

Several magazines featured articles about UTAU last month. We’ll see if magazines centered around UTAU will be published in the future!

Next weekend, on the 6th, it will be the 3rd anniversary of UTAU’s release. Like in previous years, the uploader is preparing an UtaRan Special for this date. It may not be uploaded in time, but bear with us! Well then, let’s see the ranking!

We’ll present UTAU-related videos that either made it into the 6th MMD Cup finals, that were meant to be submitted to the 5th Cup but were late, or that were featured in the 6th MMD Cup Exhibition. As for the ones that made it into the finals this year, we’ll present those that had the biggest number of points among the videos that we didn’t present last week. Next time, we’ll stop presenting videos submitted to the Cup in this section.

UTAU is getting more popular lately, and we see more jiriki UTAUloids (“UTAUloids” created from sampling, NOT a VB; please see this ANN article for more information). I wonder who will get his/her jiriki UTAUloid next?

March 5th is Miko’s Day. Spring is almost there, so it’s time for Miko’s party!

Participation rules:

1)Upload a video to celebrate Miko’s Day. You have until March 5th to do so. (videos that have already been uploaded are OK too)
2)Lock the tag “ミコの日2011”.

And that’s it! This event will also take place on Pixiv.

Each week we’ll feature one reader’s video pick. If you’d like to see your pick here, please comment and list the video and why you like it; it can be any video, so long as the main focus is UTAU!

This week we have a recommendation from random anon, who picked “Oto wo Kanadetakute” which features Yurika Sayu. His comment is “though it’s a bit long (okay, pretty long), it’s really, really beautiful.” That, it is, and worth all seven minutes.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
I wish I wasn’t so tired and been fighting a “work headache” for the past two days; I can’t really think of anything really productive to say. The 6th MMD is pretty much over now, but you can still check out videos by searching these tags on NND. The history is full of great songs that if you haven’t already snagged them. And most of the new songs are awesome.

Maybe we’ll see some nice Miko videos next week; I hope so~

On a more serious note, I would like to put out an invitation for some work on the UTAran articles. We’re really looking for more comments on the Ranking but I would also love some any additional help (I’m only one person!). If you’re interested you can post a comment or PM one of the editors on the forums.

  2. On #2: Nooooo! Kino, the song is great like always, but Ritsu dressed as a boy?! Stop ruining my waifu! D:<

    Also, I didn't notice until just now that the top image is from Kaleid (I guess that's how it's romanized…), and that's pretty cool.

    Uh, let's see, rec… rec… Reeeeeeeeeeeeec… okay… okay. Think I got it. "masquerade" by Shouka Tori. (Why do I always like the obscure ones?) nm12864818

    Also also, my Japanese isn't that great, but I think #3 is about trying to move on and not being able to. (The title translates to "trash not to burn" or something like that.)

      1. You know, I always liked how people discard all the "ridiculous" info about Ritsu (weight measured in tons, missiles for boobs, super-young age) except for the equally ridiculous gender.

        On a more related note, #2 is really awesome and so is the top History song.
