New GUMI Extend Power and Whisper Demos, More Info on V3 (Updated)

Noboru Murakami, CEO of Internet Co., Ltd. revealed two new Gumi Extend Power and Whisper demos today during a live broadcast on NicoNama… with his nekomimi on. This broadcast series, “Mezase VocaloP!” aims to help P’s by providing classes on using the Vocaloid Editor and mixing among other things, and is presented by Internet. 10日P was present as a guest.

As was said during the June 8 secret party, Megpoid Extend will have added four different types of voices: Power, Whisper, Adult and Sweet. Noboru said they want to release the VOCALOID3 version at the same time as the Editor, in September; contrary to what had been said during the secret party, while he wants to release it for VOCALOID2 too, they’re currently negociating with YAMAHA (possibly because YAMAHA wants them to release it only for VOCALOID3 since users would have to buy the Editor separately).

He said importing their VOCALOID2 voicebanks to VOCALOID3 will probably be free; charging for it is up to the voicebank-making companies.

As for the differences between a VOCALOID2 voicebank running on the VOCALOID2 Editor, and a VOCALOID2 voicebank running on VOCALOID3, he said features like the new pitch control system will be enabled on the latter. The major difference between voicebanks made for VOCALOID2 and VOCALOID3 is that the latter will be VCV.

He doesn’t know if VOCALOID2 VSQ’s will be importable to VOCALOID3.
