The Japanese Vocaloids aren’t the only one celebrating this weekend; we also have the seventh anniversary of Engloid Miriam going on!

Miriam was the third Vocaloid produced by Zero-G, released in the US on July 1st, 2004 and in Japan on July 26th of the same year. Her voice provider is Miriam Stockley, a British singer who gained popularity as lead singer of the group project Adiemus. He agreed to the Vocaloid project, stating ”you can’t fight progress, no matter how strange it sounds.” Unfortunately Miriam did was not met with an easy welcome. She was released at the same time Virsyn’s Cantor (another voice synthesizing software) and was later not offered for sale for a while (alongside Leon and Lola) due to lack of interest; this was later changed due to a rise in interest of the program and indie music.

Miriam is often considered the most popular of the Engloids. She can also be made to sing in other langauges, such as Japanese and Korean. Her character item is a tube of lipstick (due to the loading page on Miriam Stockley’s official site).

Now let’s view some vidoes uploaded in celebration of Miriam’s birthday.

You can view more by searching her tag on Nicon Nico Douga and on YouTube.

Next let’s see some illustrations by artists around the world.
