In Other Vocaloid News:

That was this week’s number 1!

More details on VOCALOID3 have been revealed on September 1st; several companies used this opportunity to give more info on their new Vocaloids and release demo songs. Mew, SeeU, Everyone’s Vocaloid Project, and then the surprising Akikoloid. And still more info coming up.

And now, in continuation of last week, here’s our enlarged segment. Today, for the second week of our project, we’ll discuss the manners one should have when attending a Vocaloid doujin event.

Last week we discussed several topics: the difference between commercial and doujin CDs, how doujin conventions can be seen as a gathering of numerous little shops, and how the people who take place in queues themselves should help organizing the queues. In order to reduce the waiting time, buyers are expected to do simple yet very important things such as taking place in the queue orderly, to do their transactions quickly and let the people behind them take their place.

In the convention halls, we often see people standing still, reading the catalog or books, or looking for items that interest them from afar. Other ones are also probably mesmerized at the sight of the P’s they love… But the problem is that sometimes, when people are standing in passageways, they get blocked up, and it prevents the other people behind from circulating. It can turn into an oshikura manjuu kind of situation, create panic, and people can fall on each other. It can be very dangerous.

Likewise, if you suddenly start walking in another direction or start running, it can surprise other people who could stop moving, and thus create congestions. It is very important to figure out how the crowd is moving, and move so as not to disturb its flow.

People who wear heels can also become the source of problems. Take a look at this painful image. (translator’s note: a picture showing a high heel stepping on a regular shoe.) In such crowded events, protuberant objects like heels and umbrellas, as well as carts, can hurt other people, so try not to use them.

If you really have to take a break, try to go to places where you won’t be in the way of other attendants like against a wall for instance, or even leave the hall and come back after you have taken some rest.

Next week, we’ll talk about how to show respect and understanding towards the participants.

Well then, let’s see the rest of this ranking, from #31!

31 and up:

Will be up soon.

Final Thoughts/Analysis:

Once again, another great week, especially with another new TokuP song. KEI is KEI and makes it to the top 3 again with the amazing vibratto, but this time with Luka! Somehow MikuMiku Ni Shiteageru also popped up, does anyone know the reason why?

This was the week of the remake in the higher ranks. Miku covering K-On! (18), A Gumi version of Electric Love (17), Luka in a jazz 1925 PV (11), some ARiA melodies in Arrow of Love (10), and Strobe Last remixed (5).

I’m sad that Eye Exam will probably slip down next week. I really liked that one (30). Congrats to Miku Miku on the milestone, by the way. And to baker, you’ve been playing WAY too much Catherine (19).

I like the music buzzG makes, but Yori, what did you do to our beloved Gumi (3)? It’s always refressing to see KEI on the list (2). Much more refreshing than what cosMo’s been putting out lately, like his two last week that have been all but forgotten by the fanbase. But the real star of the show this week is VY1! If I’m not mistaken, this is the first time Mizki’s been in the top spot, and what an original way to do it to. I’m quite impressed.

…And so with that, we end this week’s Vocaloid Ranking review. Please join us again next week, and off to school.

      1. No, you’re thinking of the VY1 CD Horror For Holiday Shoppers, which has a song on it titled “Doomsday Clock”.

絵師じゃないKEI has made a few CDs, but buying them will be tricky, since they’ve only been released at Vom@s events and limitedly (not a word, I know) on toranoana. The video description for HFHS (his latest) says it’s on toranoana, but the link doesn’t bring anything up.

If you find a way to buy any of KEI’s albums, please let me know. =)

  1. Congrats on VY1 being number one!

People don’t seem to recognize how significant this is, so I’ll put this here: This is the FIRST TIME EVER non-Crypton, non-Gakupo/Gumi song has made number one in the VocaRan. And we have how many ‘loids total? Twenty-something?

This is significant because it proves that ingenuity can still win out over character devotion. The song itself is amazing, and while I LIKE eshijanaiKEI’s new song (I like just about everything eshijanaiKEI does), I don’t think it quite deserves to be the runaway hit it has become (expect it to be *way* higher than Cyber Thunder Cider next week).

This number one was a long, long time coming. Congrats to EZFG on doing what I was starting to think was impossible.

  2. No, this is the second VY1 song to make #1, I believe HAKUMEI was the first. Also, Miki made #1 with Romantic Night I believe.
