Today we here at Vocaloidism would like to wish MEIKO a happy 7th birthday! Read on for the celebration.

From her release on November 5th, 2004, MEIKO (and later VOCALOID KAITO) have helped paved the way for the wonderful Japanese Vocaloid phenomena that has enriched so many of our lives. Even today she remains popular amongst Vocaloid fans, as evidenced by the continued use of her voice by many producers and the prevalence of cosplays, comics, and fan arts using her likeness. While it true that her song repertoire and sales remains on the low side amongst the original VOCALOID 1 and 2 family, her brash (and sometimes intoxicated) personality has been widely embraced by fans across the globe. “Meiko-nee” can commonly be found as vibrant character in many Vocaloid comics, PVs, and fan works.

Fans of MEIKO have also had the opportunity enjoy her performances in the popular “Project DIVA” PSP and Arcade game series. She has made appearances in all of the games to date as both her original self or her younger identity, Sakine Meiko. She is set to make yet another appearance in the upcoming “Project DIVA extend” game with several beautiful new outfits. MEIKO fans can also look forward to the upcoming release of the Good Smile Company’s MEIKO Nendoroid, set for a late December release. Looking forward to the even more distant future, this past year also saw Crpyton’s confirmation of a MEIKO Append voicebank in the works for an unspecified future release. This will hopefully ensure that MEIKO will continued to have her birthday cerebrated by fans new and old for many years to come.

Now let’s take a look at some MEIKO’s songs from the part year and from her birthday celebration.

  1. めーちゃん! Congo rats on turning seven.  Now, hurry up with your Append vocals.

You know, even though she’s a first generation Vocaloid, what Konki-P did with her is amazing in his song up there. (Motto Hade ni ne).

  2. You found time to celebrate Meiko’s 7th yet ignored Oliver’s announcement, as well as other crap going on???

Come on, Vocaloidism you can do better!

    1. I wouldn’t say it was “ignored”. You have to realize that these articles are made a couple of weeks in advance. Also, the regular bloggers have real lives too which sometimes gets in the way of Vocaloidism, especially when things like the semester ending or real-life issues come in. Many of the bloggers have school or even spouses and kids to deal with, so somethings things slip through the cracks. Yes, perhaps Vocaloidism can do better, but you gotta remember that people have lives too.

  3. Happy Birthday to my favorite Vocaloid1, Meiko! 😀
I seriously wished Shigotoshite-P’s song could go to at least the top 30 though… T_T

  4. Happy late birthday lol! I love that her voice is so strong and vibrant, like in mothy’s song ” capriccio farce”
