Aoki Lapis, i-style Project’s VOCALOID3 sound bank, has now received a release date of April 6, 2012. The software package will come in at 12,800 JPY for the standard Limited Edition version, 14,800 JPY for the Deluxe Edition and 19,800 JPY for the starter pack. Meanwhile, INTERNET Co., Ltd. has announced a March 16, 2012 release date for Megpoid Native, a VOCALOID3 revamp of the original Megpoid. The standard package will come in at 10,800 JPY and the starter pack will be 16,800 JPY (neither price including tax).

The standard Limited Edition for Aoki Lapis comes with a DVD titled Aoki Lapis Episode 0, as well as a CD consisting of .vsqx and karaoke sound files for the official demo songs. Preorders also receive a copy of a mini signed Carnelian (character designer for Aoki Lapis) sketch. Furthermore, preorders from the official site also receive a telephone card as well. The (500 copies only) Deluxe Edition adds a “visual fan book” (B5 paper size), a rubber character strap, a CD case and two kinds of clear files. Preorders get a different mini sketch. Meanwhile, the starter pack is just the normal Limited Edition with the VOCALOID3 editor.

According to the Megpoid Native product page, Megpoid Native tries to retain the character and nuance of the original VOCALOID2 product while at the same time adding adjustments to the sound as well as “triphon” support. Triphons are a new feature in VOCALOID3 that will instantiate a different sound if a particular set of three phonemes are pieced together, allowing for instance “ka” to sound different in “aka” compared to “ika”. The aim of this product was to increase the sound quality of the original Megpoid sound to make it comparable to the other VOCALOID3 soundbanks. Preorders receive a special Megpoid Native Technique Guide that teaches the user how to be a better VOCALOID producer and comes with sample .vsqx files.

Wonder where they got that technique from.

    1. Triphones are not a unique concept to UTAU.  UTAU implemented the concept first, but “triphone”  is a technical term in linguistics for three phonemes in sequence.

  2. I wish companies would go back to selling Vocaloids, not fan merchandise. I would buy Aoki if it was only the voicebank, not a dvd or sketches.
As for Gumi, at least the company is adding something relevant to vocaloid, since a technique guide, in my opinion, is far more important than telephone cards.

  3. I wonder when they’ll stop milking Gumi and start putting out more demos and information about Lily and Gakupo V3…The short demo of Lily V3 that was posted sounded AMAZING(especially for only 20% complete) and I want more :C

  4. I love that Gumi is getting attention, and I’m glad they’re re-releasing her first bank, her Extend is awesome but I love the original.
I’m not going to be impaitient with Internet Co. They’ve been giving us quality, and quantity unlike Crypton. When’s the last time Crypton mentioned any voice banks that were not Appends? At least Internet gave us Cul. I know they’re working hard.

I love at of the merchandise that’s coming with Aoki. Lets not forget, vocaloid is mostly fanbased, I’m happy that the companies are giving us that don’t use the vocaloids (artists, writers, and just plain fans) something to collect. If I could I would so order Aoki and Gumi ina heartbeat.
